Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
Evolve Psychotherapy is an independent CAMHS provider, this means that we are able to provide services for children and young people outside of the NHS. These services include: Counselling, Low Intensity CBT, High Intensity CBT, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Therapeutic Youth Work, 1:2:1 mental health support workers and Adventure Therapy. We recognise that children and young people live within a complex system which means that sometimes, supporting parents or carers with their own mental health, can be the best way to support the child. If you are an adult in need of support, please get in touch.

CBT
How does it work? CBT is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, sensations and behaviours are interconnected. For example, a young person who feels that they are socially awkward may experience anxiety, and as a result may avoid social interactions. CBT sessions can help break down these negative thoughts and feelings into smaller, more manageable parts and support them to discover realistic tools to improve their mental health and state of mind on a daily basis.
Accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapists are trained to assess and support adults, children and young people who have a variety of difficulties, including common mental health problems, long term health conditions and more complex difficulties. CBT therapists use evidence-based treatments that have been developed using research. They have special training and skills as well as experience to work with people.
Your CBT therapist will work with you to analyse your thoughts, physical feelings and actions and determine the effect they are having on each other and on you. You will then work together to work out how to change any unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. You will be asked to practice these changes in your daily life and you will discuss how you got on during your next session.
At Evolve, we have a specific interest in Outdoor Education and how it can complement CBT. We believe that activity and immersion in the natural world is of particular benefit in the treatment of depression and anxiety. The option of integrating outdoor activities with your CBT sessions will be discussed during your initial assessment.
CBT can be delivered in person or online.
